Immediately issued invoices in changed resources

When you create, cancel, or modify a subscription, you can now pass Include-Changed-Resources: issued_immediately to return only the invoices that are payable right away, along with any voided invoices and credit note changes. You get the changes you need to act on now without waiting for the full set of future-dated invoices.

  • The header now also accepts all to return every changed resource, equivalent to the previous true value.
  • issued_immediately is a more complete alternative to payable_invoices. Note that payable_invoices will be deprecated in favor of issued_immediately.

Select subscriptions for plan migrations by CSV

You can now choose which subscriptions a plan version migration applies to by uploading a list of subscription IDs. Use it to migrate a prioritized subset first, run start-of-cycle migrations for specific customers of yours, or carve out edge cases from a bulk run.

Previously, you had to pick subscriptions one at a time in the table or rely on filters.

  • On a plan's Subscriptions tab, click Select subscriptions by CSV.
  • Upload a CSV with one subscription ID per row in the first column (an optional Subscription ID header is supported), or a TXT file with one ID per line.
  • Each upload can include up to 250 subscriptions.

⚙️ Collections Automations for Orb Invoicing

There’s sending an invoice, and then there’s getting paid. Companies lose as much as 5% of revenue to leakage from overdue invoices. Orb can help with Collections Automations -- now available for Enterprise accounts.

With Collections Automations, you can:

  • build multi-step collections workflows with configurable retries, emails, and webhook actions
  • tailor collections paths to different invoice cohorts
  • get more visibility into what is happening on each invoice

Try it now, or learn more in our docs.

Debug-mode event ingestion removed

The debug=true query parameter on event ingestion requests is now ignored. Requests that include it still succeed and go through standard ingestion, which deduplicates events with Orb's normal idempotency checks.

Previously, debug mode checked idempotency synchronously, outside the standard deduplication path, and in rare race conditions could accept duplicate events.

  • Standard ingestion is unaffected. If you don't send debug=true, you don't need to change anything.
  • The Events tab on the Usage page now shows how many events were filtered as duplicates and how many were filtered for idempotency key reuse. This replaces the visibility debug mode used to give you.

Queued plan version migrations and a Migrations tab

You can now start as many plan version migrations as you need at once. Previously, running more than three migrations concurrently could cause them to fail. Now any migrations beyond that limit are queued automatically and start as soon as capacity frees up, so bulk plan changes no longer need to be spaced out by hand.

To follow progress, open the new Migrations tab under Plans > Migrations. It lists each migration with its plan, target version, created date, subscriptions migrated, and status:

  • Queued
  • Scheduling
  • Completed
  • Action needed

🧾 Merchant Tax IDs on Orb Invoices

Orb now displays your merchant tax ID (VAT, GST, or other applicable tax registration number) directly on invoices — a requirement for compliant invoicing in most international jurisdictions and a common ask from enterprise finance teams. This ensures your invoices meet local compliance requirements out of the box -- no workarounds, no manual edits to PDFs.

To get started, add your tax registration number(s) under Invoice Settings. Your merchant tax ID will appear on all invoices going forward.

Edit memos on issued invoices

You can now update the memo on an issued invoice without voiding and reissuing it, so adding a PO number or fixing a typo no longer means sending a new invoice. From an issued invoice in the dashboard, select Regenerate invoice PDF, edit the memo, and optionally refresh the customer tax ID. The invoice keeps its invoice number, and the change applies to the PDF, customer portal, API, and data exports.

  • Available for issued invoices that haven't been paid or synced to an external system.
  • Regenerating also refreshes company details, the invoice footer, and the customer address to what's currently on file.
  • Changes don't sync to third-party systems like Stripe, NetSuite, or QuickBooks.
  • Note that invoices with tax generally shouldn't be regenerated, since the final tax amount may change.

Full invoice previews for new subscriptions and plan changes

When you create a subscription or schedule a plan change in the dashboard, the Subscription preview step now shows the full invoicing impact before you confirm. Previously, these flows previewed only the next upcoming invoice.

The preview matches the one used when editing a subscription or migrating plan versions, and covers the next 12 months of changes:

  • Invoices that will be added, updated, deleted, or voided
  • Credit notes the change will issue
  • Proration and its effect on downstream invoices

Composite percentage prices and tiered discounts

There are new price and adjustment types available in Early Access. Reach out to your Orb contact to get access.

Composite percentage prices

Charge a fee calculated as a percentage of other line items on the same invoice, such as a support fee set at a percentage of usage, without doing the invoice math by hand. Use the percent model type.

Tiered percentage discounts

The new tiered_percentage_discount adjustment applies a different percentage to each band of cumulative spend, so you can model fill-a-tier discount schedules.
